Haunted
Muddy drooping staircase
purple gourd hangs from
a hook in its bitter mouth
sounds extract a chill
doll children all frightened
they'd only come to pluck treats
their eyes glossy round
terror on their kissed faces
inside the gourd he works
a microphone
This is a wonderful wordle for the season. Somewhat 'chilling' but, in the end, it makes me smile!
ReplyDeleteWhat an unbelievable poem, Willow! I particularly like:

Although it creeps me out, LOL. You are such a luminous writer of poems!
Chilling, but a clever use of the wordle words.
ReplyDeleteI add my welcome and good wishes. A poetry community is a great place to hone the craft. You have succeeded for me in creating images that evoke the aroma of terror.
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone.
ReplyDeleteWelcome Willow! We have a nice poetry site over at big tent.
ReplyDeleteI love your wordle!
Pamela
Trick or treat is a seasonal pastime that did not exist in my childhood. Your poem makes me kind of glad about that! :0)
ReplyDeleteChilling and haunting! Gives me chills(as it should). Well done!
