Great Blues

They arrived October first
refurbished an existent nest.
We moved into the house
reveled in their additions.

They added twigs.
We added furniture.
They added moss.
We added accents.

They took turns
he night, she day
three months
we watched.

No eggs hatched.
They flew away.

At times your
golden eye looks
into my telescope
stares into my lens

When I look away
you swoop past
in search of fish

Sometimes dense

cutting into asiago

Sometimes webs

to claw through

Sometimes escape

curl up in sheets 

Sometimes tears flow

unstoppable 

Sometimes screams

shriek terrifyingly 

Sometimes there seems

no end to sadness

Clean Slate

Hard to do

wipe the screen clean

screen’s are porous

things are always

getting stuck

hard to do

Have to get out hose

brush the screen

while wetting it

Slate is much easier
