Visa Versa

Visa Versa

Blocks

I watch them build
rapt with balance
higher and higher
joy a skyscraper
suddenly sweep
of an arm down
it all comes glee
in the destruction

Visa Versa

Blocks

I watch them build
rapt with balance
higher and higher
joy a skyscraper
suddenly sweep
of an arm down
it all comes glee
in the destruction
Blocks

Higher, higher they build
eye level toward the sky
balancing different shapes
cones, squares, triangles
red, blue, yellow, green
when no blocks remain
a thing of accomplishment
little arms swoop to destroy
cascade of wooden blocks
crash with squeals of delight

Jasmine

Night blooming jasmine
wafts through the window
ample breeze after sunset
flawed granite set  aglow

above monkeys shriek
in earsplitting whistle
little demons trapped
scrap with each other

I view the montage
can't see the difference
monkeys and humans
within their domain

Fridays

Fridays

I blend with abandon
transfer from work
freedom

my spare time off
its my job
free

I draft ride current
on a downhill
stride

in a trance
caught by a string
temper

from which I refrain
the racket in my
brain

drove me to strike
the key to the chest
crack

Friday

I sit in the park
watch rats scurry
as sun sets

Crown

Crown

Gaseous corona
cigar smoke circles
vessels constrict
Gargantuan shadows
you nail against me
I brush you off
trembled mud crawl
through willow bluffs
wood stones stain

For Sunday Whirl:
bluffs, willow, corona, brush,  trembled, mud, crawl, vessels, nail, stain, shadows, stones

Full Circle

Full Circle

"The golden serpent coiled
in the shape of an egg,
eating its own tail."

We come full circle in life
eating ourselves as we live
only to circle again, again

We shed our skin to grow
birth ourselves eating our tail
full circle we come round, live

Water

I am earth
water my companion
daughter water sign
her father water sign

I desire water
drink to live
beside water
see colors

sea colors
mystery in water
what hides beneath
reflected in light

I love the sound
roar and crash
slap and trickle
splash and drip

in flight the ocean
looks like epidermis
on my arm as I twist
my wrist like waves

I feel sorry for fire
quenched by water
subdued I wish I were
water to my fire mate

Scrap

He would beat the crap out of me
split my lip, black my eye, bruise
my face as I would crumple
after getting in a few good blows

I would hammer his torso, gloves
on, edge in, crouch, draw back
burst, pierce, chisel away at the
resistance to my happy freedom

I would crash through him and
glow until the lights went out
