Anaphora

When I became delusional
was when I knew I was blind
when I knew I was blind
was when I was delusional

Cement

Cement

cumbersome pelt
weights me down
smoke laden

dark night stars
bright

entranced
reluctant
stray away

senses dense
murmur
no maps

Right Down to the Microscope

So much depends upon
each others state of mind
the world is too angry
right down to microscope

We need to let go of teeth
gripped in someone's ass
What are we doing?

Horns honk angrily
stresses everyone trying
to navigate highways

So much depends upon
each others state of mind
the world is too angry
right down to microscope

I Know Balance

Train whistle
shadowy ghosts
rouse me restless
from nestled sleep
bizarre dreams
steel wheels spark
on railroad tracks
scorched fields
in August drought
smudgy air seeps
I remember sores
from straps for
walking on tracks
I know balance

This Is Not The Truth About The End, But a Hint about the Beginning

We shoot out
from the Universe
through the (vigors)
of our parents

I do hope there
as we careen
through life
is a beginning

I'll Never Know What the Clouds Promised

I lie on my back watching clouds
white feathery ones wisp away
little hills like herds of sheep
gray and white and pink scud off
mountains build and thrilled I think
California rather than flat Florida
I imagine many characters
many scenes, just as when
I was a child on my swing
tipped back flying in clouds
I saw stories unfold, my future
in clouds rather than in tea leaves
scenes played out in the sky dissolved
I'll never know what the clouds promised
Each Day is an Iceberg

Each day I shed fear
from your heated desire
then you leave me cold
I build layers against you
from your inconsistency

There's Something I Know

There's something I know
it is mine and only mine
it is my secret
it is about my Mother
I knew it from her anger

Confidential

Confidential

Her trade pleasure
her charms evident
during her interview

Her room ransacked
a belt about her neck
visions blur through fog

Her customers trade stories
there is weeping under
Sticker Guy posters

On A Lonely Road

On A Lonely Road

I wander on my road
which always felt lonely
until I realized we are
all alone on this road

It is our own journey
no one else but us
yet we form alliances
from hunter gatherer

days when someone
had to have our back
days now when it is
good to have friends

I am alone on this road
it is an awakening
it is my path to traverse
it is each person's path

I wander on my road
I don't feel lonely
I realize we are
all alone on this road

It Is A Circus

It is A Circus

Out there…on the road
lives scream around you
swerve past

some stay behind
go slow

Out there…on your path
life screams around you
swerves past

Old Tree

What the Old Tree Has Seen

They stand tall
above everything
heads above fog
they see the sea

logged off
perfect wood
for picnic tables
decks

it never rots
its made into pulp
the mills stink
they stand tall

we are elfin beneath
I hug them as I hear
surf roar and see elk
in meadows near

Small

Small
I remember small
walking between my parents
my raised arms thigh high
into the waves
that knocked me down
looking up through water
gasping, spitting, choking
my Dad laughing

Chocolate Chip Cookies

White Chocolate Chip Cookie

The full moon
a sugar cookie
macadamia nuts
white chocolate

Time takes bites
until a new batch
gets served up
full moon

I love those nights
a sugar moon
macadamia nuts
white chocolate

Theater Masks

Disco Babes

Faces drawn in clay
like theater masks
from the scalpel

they dress in leopard
laugh and dance
like theater masks

She and I

My Skeleton

We creak
she and I
we think
more about
each other

We knead
bend and stretch
we feel
more about
each other

I tend
to be cerebral
get lost
forget skeleton

we tend
more about
each other
we oil

she and I
we think
more about
each other

The Power of We

The Power of We

"Of and by the people…"

I think this is a poem
way above me, but
I will give it a try

We, the people
have we ever been
one people

We seem all at odds
seams that lash us
together, yet apart

We the people
how do we
together, come

There are certain
natural rules
for humans

In the words
of Spike Lee
"Do the right thing."

We all know
the right thing
sociopaths excepted

We all do
the right thing
sociopaths excepted

So, that's how
we're in this mix
sociopaths are winning
