Island

The island seems tilted

as if it will go bottom up

trees under water roots

on top

but

birds

where do they roost

now branches are gone

roots though interesting

observed above ground

belong below 

leaves need to be on top

beautiful homes

for nests and eyes

not to mention oxygenation

I chant for rectification

the island not yet tilted

I observe nests of birds

hear Great Blues squawk

in guttural tones  

I watch their dance

wings aloft for balance

they gather twigs

bill to bill nest rises

I wait for chicks 

hope for fertilization

but already this nest

appears tilted
