I knelt before her
she in her recliner
unable to move
from the waist down
unable to speak
I looked into her eyes
and said, "Don't you
give up hope, I have
read about remissions,
don't you give up hope."
She may have been
thinking, "fat chance."
She may have been
given hope. I didn't
lie to her, I had read
about remissions, will
hope sustain her, will
it make the difference?
Are they who hope the
ones freed from affliction?
good question-leaves me pondering. can one accept reality yet still have hope? Your poem raises some interesting and important questions.
ReplyDeleteGood question -- a powerful poem!
ReplyDeleteYou of Hope:
ReplyDeleteI hope you are right. Thank you for your
hopes, Willow.
What a touching time, touching moment. Don't loose hope; we just can't. I think you gave her your hope as a gift here.
ReplyDeletesuch a paradox this is, and dilemma (?) that hope presents. you describe a painful situation vividly, and i am reminded of a line that says something to the effect of: "anyone can doubt, but it takes courage to hope."
ReplyDeleteGood question with a powerful message. Well done.
