In The Forest

I try to get a foothold
no resistance in jello
need to get a spine

I ogle pines
I trek on needles
in the forest

I love the resin
sticky white sharp
I try to get a foothold

I live in sun
filter etches
forest shadows

  1. So lovely. This captures the feeling of a forest....."I live in sun....filter etches forest shadows". Beautiful.

  8. I read this totally differently from everyone, apparently...with its needles and sticky white sharp...its need for a spine, attempt to get a foothold, sun filtered dark... Isn't that a great thing about poetry? Someone's forest is someone else's hell. Really cool poem!

  10. I like how you describe the sap so fully...gives this poem a sticky feel and when speaking of foot holds a neat image in the mind. Great poem, Willow!
