Outside
Motion outside my window
passers-by strolling shop
occasionally they look
meet one another's gaze
it is always an accident
as they lower their eyes
outside my window they
jostle strangers oblivious
to all but themselves
they clutch their security
chat with their friends
never move across lines
Some mystery in this Belle, but speaks to of a universal aloneness. Good take on the wordle!
ReplyDeleteI like this very much, Willow. It seems people really hesitate to look one another in the eye, and yes...everyone has lines.
ReplyDeleteInteresting one, Willow. You set the scene so well.
ReplyDeleteSo true. Everyone really moves about in their own little bubble -- even more so now that most people seem to be glued to their smart phones. You captured this very well and succinctly.
ReplyDeleteGreat observational piece. I can see the scene you describe perfectly.
ReplyDeleteNice use of the wordle words. I especially liked....
ReplyDelete"they clutch their security
chat with their friends
never move across lines"
Great job painting the scene for us. You've given us just enough to set the wheels of imagination in motion. Whole stories could be woven from this poem.
ReplyDeleteSuch a poignant commentary on the social scene, Willow. As usual, you are spot on!
